Now that the seasons are changing and spring is rolling in, it’s a good time to perform some regular maintenance to keep your vehicle running smoothly, especially since winter weather tends to take a toll on the body of your car. Here are three Ford service tasks to prepare your vehicle for spring.

Check Tires

Harsh winter weather tends to leave very rough roads, which can damage your car’s tires or throw them out of alignment. Make sure they are all properly aligned and inflated. Examine the surfaces for damage such as punctures, cracks, or bulges. These are all serious problems and can worsen if you don’t take care of them immediately.

This is also a good time to measure the tread depth and make sure it is at least 2/32 of an inch. Healthy tire tread is especially important for slippery spring roads.

Inspect Batteries

Steep temperature drops can affect the performance of your car’s battery, so even if your vehicle seems to be operating fine, we recommend opening up the hood and taking a look at the battery to make sure everything is in order now that winter is over. Dust it off to keep it clean and inspect it carefully for leaks, cracks, and corrosion.

Replace Filters

There are several filters in your car that help keep the fluids that flow through it clean and pure. These include the oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, cabin air filter, and PCV valve, and all of which can become clogged over time and need to be replaced regularly. If it’s been more than six months since you last replaced your filters, we suggest doing so right away.
